An online payment can close a Louisiana traffic case quickly, but it may also resolve the charge as a guilty or no-contest plea. Before paying a speeding ticket, have our lawyers check whether a non-moving amendment is available and what the payment would mean for your record.
There is no single set of online-payment rules for every court
The citation identifies the court or agency handling your matter. Its procedures determine which cases can be paid online and which require another step. A payment page from a different parish or city may not apply, even when the alleged speed is similar.
For example, Baton Rouge City Court’s official instructions distinguish payment procedures, fine exceptions and violations requiring an appearance. Those are local instructions, not a statewide rule that every speeding ticket can be paid remotely.
Payment is not automatically diversion
Paying by the deadline does not, by itself, enroll you in a program that keeps a ticket off your record. Louisiana law provides traffic-case alternatives with conditions. A specific approved arrangement must be distinguished from simply paying the original charge.

If a deadline is close or payment already happened

If you already paid, keep the receipt and confirmation number. Tell us what you paid and which charge was shown. We cannot promise that a completed plea or payment can be undone, but an accurate account is necessary to assess the situation.
