Louisiana I-20 Speeding Ticket Lawyer
By Stephen Babcock, Babcock Partners, LLC
An I-20 trip from Texas to Mississippi can produce a Louisiana court date long after you are back home. If the ticket says Greenwood, Ruston, Monroe or only a mile marker, send it to us before deciding whether to pay. Our traffic lawyers identify the court and explain what can be done about the charge that would go on your record.
Our attorney’s-fee promise. If we accept your speeding-ticket case and obtain neither a non-moving amendment nor a dismissal, we refund your full attorney’s fee. Court fines and costs are separate. Read what our fee covers.
Match the I-20 stop to a north Louisiana parish
Use the location recorded on the citation. The city where you spent the night or the next city on a highway sign may be in a different parish. If your only landmarks are a river bridge or an interchange, include the direction of travel and the nearest exit along with the court name.
Texas line, Shreveport and Bossier City
I-20 enters Louisiana near Greenwood in Caddo Parish. The Red River separates Shreveport from Bossier City in Bossier Parish. Check whether the officer wrote I-20 or I-220, the loop around the cities. Farther east in Bossier Parish is the approach to Haughton.
Minden, Arcadia and Ruston
Use Webster Parish for a stop around Minden, then Bienville Parish near Arcadia. Grambling and Ruston are in Lincoln Parish. For someone headed to a university in Ruston, the destination can be a poor guide to the court handling a stop several exits earlier.
West Monroe, Monroe and Rayville
West Monroe and Monroe are on opposite sides of the Ouachita River but share Ouachita Parish. Once the trip takes you east to Rayville or Delhi, see Richland Parish. A city guide helps explain local court arrangements. We still check the name printed on your own notice before advising you about an appearance.
Tallulah, Delta and the Mississippi line
For the eastern end of I-20, see Madison Parish, Tallulah and Delta. If you continued over the river to Vicksburg, check the issuing state before sending the ticket. Our team handles the Louisiana citation. The fact that you were close to Mississippi does not tell us on which side the officer recorded the offense.
I live in Texas or Mississippi. Will I have to come back?
Send us the appearance or response date before you book a trip. We can check whether a personal appearance is required and explain what a lawyer can handle for you. If you already missed the date or received a second notice, include both documents so we review the current status.
What can be done about the charge on my record?
Tell us the state that issued your license, the alleged speed, the posted limit and any other offenses on the same ticket. Those details matter when we evaluate a request to amend the charge to a non-moving violation or seek dismissal. If you hold a CDL, we consider speeding tickets in a personal vehicle and do not accept commercial-vehicle tickets.
Ask us to explain the proposed disposition, any fine and our fee before you make a decision. A photo of the full ticket gives us more to work with than a screenshot of a balance or a map pin.
