An LSU Game-Day Traffic Ticket: Parking, Moving Violations, and Who Issued It

An LSU game-day ticket can be a university parking citation, a police traffic citation, or another kind of notice. Identify who issued it and where it directs you to respond. An appeal filed with LSU Parking & Transportation does not answer a police citation assigned to traffic court.

Act promptly if it is a campus parking citation: LSU’s published appeal window is five calendar days. A crowded football weekend does not turn that into five business days or extend it until the next home game.

Which kind of notice do you have?

NoticeWhere to beginDeadline to check

Routing depends on the actual notice. The LSU parking deadline does not establish the deadline for a court case. On smaller screens, swipe the table to see all columns.

For an LSU parking citation, use the formal appeal channel

LSU’s current appeal page provides separate routes for students/faculty/staff and visitors/non-affiliates. It says calls, emails, and office visits are not accepted as appeals. Use the linked submission channel and keep its confirmation.

Submit photographs, diagrams, receipts, or other supporting material with the initial appeal. LSU posts a 1,500-word limit and says it will not accept additional information afterward. Its current page lists a $15 processing fee if the appeal is denied or the fine is reduced by half; an older $5 figure is outdated. Questions about the university process can go to 225-578-5000, but asking a question does not itself submit an appeal.

Check the published rules before paying: LSU says payment or transfer of a citation to a billing statement waives the ability to appeal. Prepare the relevant evidence and choose the appropriate response while the appeal window is open.

A game-day pass does not authorize every parking space

The university’s parking rules use signs, street and curb markings, and permit restrictions to define where vehicles may park. They prohibit parking in places such as lawns, sidewalks, and construction areas, and identify reserved football spaces. Keep the permit or pass and any proof showing the lot or zone it covered.

Useful evidence addresses the alleged violation: a valid pass for the relevant lot, a payment confirmation, a photograph of the sign or markings, or a documented error in the vehicle information. A stadium admission ticket alone does not establish permission to park a car in a particular reserved area.

For a police traffic citation, check the court designation

The East Baton Rouge Clerk’s traffic instructions identify LSU Police among the agencies whose traffic tickets are handled through its 19th Judicial District Court process. The same page directs Baton Rouge Police tickets to City Court and lists 225-389-5278 for City Court information. Always verify the court on the individual ticket; an event location alone is not enough.

Before paying a court ticket, find out whether the charge allows payment without appearing and what the payment means. The Clerk’s online-payment instructions require acknowledgement that payment is a guilty plea. A university parking appeal cannot change that court case, and paying a campus parking balance does not dispose of a separate moving violation.

Use the current game-day maps for the next trip

LSU Athletics’ official parking and traffic page links to 2026 pregame and postgame maps and its game-day directions. The maps help distinguish permitted parking areas and expected traffic flow. Save the map relevant to the event if it helps explain the location involved in a ticket.

Plan both arrival and departure before driving. Do not assume a route open before kickoff will be the route used after the game, or that a general navigation suggestion overrides an officer’s direction or a temporary sign. If documenting a past incident, identify the event date and preserve the information that applied then.

Keep the two processes separate

A vehicle can generate more than one obligation during a weekend. Keep each notice, case or citation number, recipient office, deadline, and confirmation together. If you have already missed a traffic court date, confirm the case status with the court named on your ticket rather than assuming the campus parking portal will show it.

For a Louisiana police traffic citation, send our team the ticket and any later court notice to discuss representation. Include the charge, court designation, and deadline. For the university parking process, begin with LSU’s official appeal page while its short filing window remains open.

Official instructions checked October 2, 2026. The five-day appeal window and $15 processing figure describe LSU’s parking process, not every ticket issued near campus.
