Louisiana I-55 Speeding Ticket Lawyer
By Stephen Babcock, Babcock Partners, LLC
If you received a Louisiana speeding ticket on Interstate 55, a bridge name, exit or mile marker can be more useful than the city you were driving toward. Send us the citation before the response date. We identify the court, review the alleged speed and any other charges, and explain whether we can seek a non-moving amendment or dismissal.
Our attorney’s-fee promise. If we accept your speeding-ticket case and obtain neither a non-moving amendment nor a dismissal, we refund your full attorney’s fee. Court fines and costs are separate. Read what our fee covers.
Where was the I-55 stop?
LaPlace, Ruddock and the Manchac crossing
I-55 meets I-10 near LaPlace. Louisiana DOTD identifies LaPlace as Exit 1 and Ruddock as Exit 7 on the St. John the Baptist Parish stretch. If your ticket refers only to the elevated highway or Manchac, include the direction and marker the officer wrote. Heading north toward Ponchatoula takes you into Tangipahoa Parish. If the location on the citation is I-10, use the I-10 ticket guide.
Ponchatoula, Hammond and the I-12 interchange
For a stop south of Hammond, the Ponchatoula guide can help identify local court distinctions. I-55 meets I-12 at Hammond. A ticket written on I-55, on the connecting ramp, or after you joined I-12 may give different location details. The named court and issuing agency are more reliable than an exit sign. See the I-12 guide if that road appears on the citation.
Independence, Amite and Kentwood
Farther north, Independence, Amite and Kentwood are in Tangipahoa Parish. DOTD identifies the LA 16 interchange at Amite as Exit 47 and the LA 38 interchange at Kentwood as Exit 61. Near the Mississippi line, confirm which state issued the ticket. If a later notice names a different hearing location, include that notice when you send the citation.
Do I need to drive back for an appearance?
Tell us the deadline, whether you have already contacted the court and where you live. We check whether counsel can handle the appearance or whether you must attend. Do not assume a date has changed because you requested a review. If you have already crossed the state line, our out-of-state driver guide explains what we can check about the Louisiana case from a distance.
What will a lawyer review before I hire the firm?
We compare the alleged speed with the posted limit, identify any additional charge, and ask what matters to you: protecting a personal driving record, avoiding an unnecessary return trip, or clarifying a missed date. We explain our fee and what the court may require. If you hold a CDL, our personal-vehicle CDL policy applies.
The Louisiana DOTD parish maps, LaPlace and Ruddock references and Amite and Kentwood interchange references verify the landmarks above. You do not need to identify the parish yourself before sending us the ticket.
